Guidelines and Dress Code

Dress code:  Dance attire & correct dance shoes are required for all classes.  It's important for your teacher to make necessary corrections for body alignment.

  • Hair should be pulled up & back off of face, especially for tumbling class.
  • For safety, no big jewelry.
  • Little ones like to play dress up, it’s cute but much too distracting to the student & classmates in dance class.
  • Please do not buy the satin flat-soled Isotoners for your little one.  Those are not ballet slippers. They are oversized, fit very poorly and can cause children to slip & fall.
  • No jeans, jean shorts, soccer or basketball shorts in dance class. “Would you wear your dance clothes to ball practice?”  Of course not!
  • Wednesday technique classes require black leotard and either pink or white tights.  Mandatory.

Guidelines:

Intro to Dance I - a dance outfit, footless tights preferred + ballet slippers.

Intro to Dance II - same + black tap shoes.

Mini Line - Teen classes - pink ballet slippers, tan tap & tan jazz boot style shoes (no shoe strings to come untied)

Ballet - a leotard, light colored tights, a dance skirt or form-fitting shorts + pink ballet slippers.

Jazz/Hip Hop - dance pants or shorts, fitted top or leotard + tan jazz boots without ties.  Bring socks.

Tap - same as above + tan tap boots without ties. Pants should not drag the floor.

Lyrical - same as ballet + foot mittens or paws.  Bring clean socks.

Tumbling - t-shirt, shorts, barefeet, bring clean socks.

Male Dancers - dance pants or shorts, t-shirt, appropriate dance shoes.

We use a sizing kit to order ballet, lyrical, tap and jazz shoes.  Orders will be placed twice a month.
